Center Delivers Train-the-Trainer Program to Minneapolis Metro Transit Instruction Staff

The Center delivered the 5-day Train-the-Trainer course at Metro Transit’s Franklin Street Operation and Maintenance Facility in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The Transportation Learning Center’s Jim Kinahan delivered the training to seven participants from Metro Transit’s training division, one college instructor from Hennepin Technical College, and one trainer from Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority (NFTA). The course covered both Signals and Rail Vehicle instructional material.   

Training topics covered theadult learner, effective instructional methods including Gagne’s nine events of instruction, hands-on and classroom demonstrations using signal and rail courseware and components, and co-facilitation of courses.The course addressed the standard design of TLC course material in both the instructor guides and participant guides. Participants engaged in group exercises and practiced instruction skills in classroom and at work site environments (field trips).
