The Center and NCCRS to Present Newly Developed Transit Core Competencies Curriculum (TC3)
Posted November 2016
On Friday, December 2, the Transportation Learning Center and the National College Credit Recommendation Service (NCCRS*) will give a joint presentation at the Association for Career and Technical Education’s (ACTE) VisionQuest conference. In their talk “Getting on Track: Pathways to Transportation Careers, Education and Opportunities,” Lisa Mahoney of NCCRS and Pat Greenfield of the Center will highlight and discuss the Center’s newly-developed Transit Core Competencies Curriculum (TC3). The talk will provide CTE professionals in education and workforce development an overview of public transportation as a high-growth, high-demand green industry teeming with opportunities for career advancement. Presenters will then describe how TC3 prepares participants for frontline technical careers in public transportation, establishing a pathway to apprenticeships and career opportunities, along with connections to CTE and post-secondary programs.
Held this year in Las Vegas, the ACTE meeting is the largest annual gathering of Career and Technical Education professionals. If you are attending the conference, join Lisa, Pat and other CTE professionals at the 9:45 a.m. session December 2. For more information about the presentation or TC3, contact Pat at pgreenfield@transportcenter.org.
*The Center is currently working closely with NCCRS to have its transportation and TC3 courseware officially recognized as a part of a for-college-credit curriculum.
