The Center Delivers Train-the-Trainer Courses in Philadelphia and in San Francisco
Posted December 2016
During the past two weeks, the Center delivered its very popular 5-day Train-the-Trainer course in Philadelphia and in San Francisco. In Philadelphia, Instructional Design Associate, Amri Joyner delivered training to employees from several departments at SEPTA including Regional Railroad, Track Maintenance, Bus Operation, and Bus Repair; nine SEPTA employees completed the course. In San Francisco, Instructional Designer Melissa Huber delivered the training to Rail Vehicle Consortium members from SFMTA, SDMTS, WMATA, CATS, CTA, BART and NFTA.
Both trainings covered topics such as The Adult Learner, The Effective Instructor, and Teaching Tools, each participant had three opportunities to practice teach by themselves or with a co-facilitator. Participants practiced their instruction skills using materials either from existing agency courses or from courseware developed by the Center. It was two weeks packed with learning, applying training techniques, practicing training, receiving feedback on ways they could improve on their training, and so much more!
